The Board will begin requiring its licensees to begin meeting the CME requirement in the 2018-2019 renewal cycle. Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances Beginning January 1, 2020, a Schedule II controlled substance that is an opioid may be dispensed only with an electronic prescription order as prescribed by federal law or regulation. Licensure by Universal Recognition On August 27, 2019, the will begin accepting applications for licensure by universal recognition. The universal recognition policy allows Arizona residents to use a current professional or occupational license from another U.S. jurisdiction to qualify for an Arizona license to work. To qualify, an applicant must: Prove residency in Arizona Be currently licensed for at least one year in another U.S. jurisdiction in the discipline applied for and at the same level of practice as recognized in Arizona; Be in good standing in all states where currently or previously licensed; Have met all applicable education, work, exam, and/or clinical supervision requirements in the other state where originally licensed; Complete a criminal background check when required by law; Take and pass any applicable exam on Arizona state law; and Pay all applicable fees to the Board. Governor's Regulatory Review Council (GRRC) - Pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes ("A.R.S.") § 41-1033, any person may file a petition with the GRRC for review of a final rule based on the person's belief that the final rule does not meet the requirements of A.R.S. § 41-1030. A person may also petition the GRRC to request review of an existing agency practice, substantive policy statement, final rule or regulatory requirement that is not specifically authorized by statute pursuant to Title 32 based on the person's belief that the existing agency practice, substantive policy statement, final rule or regulatory licensing requirement is unduly burdensome or is not demonstrated to specifically fulfill a public health, safety or welfare concern.
